Floridians have purchased more than 30,000 guns already this month.
The FDLE technicians who conduct instant background checks on buyers are swamped. They're fielding more than 2,000 calls a day right now as folks buy guns for Christmas.
FDLE Firearms Manager Rita Taylor says it is prime time.
"In October, we'll start seeing a peak in the numbers because of hunting season and it just runs together from hunting season to Christmas, October to December."
So far this year gun sales in Florida have outpaced last year's total by more than 40,000 guns, and it's not over yet.
