25-thousand dollars worth of drugs and nearly 6-thousand dollars in cash... all discovered hiding in the floorboard of a Tahoe.
Jason Williams is the Decatur County Deputy who made the stop. Little did he know that a simple seat belt violation would lead to something much larger.
"I started talking to the driver I noticed his behavior was real evasive, nervousness. I got him out and writing him a written warning," says Deputy Williams.
That's when a K-9 unit was called in to sniff the vehicle out. Our cameras are the only ones rolling as investigators inventory what Max the dog discovered.
34-year old William Smith is behind bars charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug related objects. And Smith is no stranger to the law... we're told he was arrested in 2005 in Thomas County with similar charges.
Deputy Williams again, "I look back on my training and realize it, this is what I'm here for, this is what the Sheriff's Office provides the community."
Providing safer streets... and one suspected drug dealer a place to call home for some time.
Smith's bond hearing was held Saturday morning... which was denied.
Smith currently remains behind bars in the Decatur County Jail.
