On Wednesday April 29, 2009, the Leon County Jail received an envelope addressed to an inmate which was marked as “Legal Mail”. A Correctional Officer observed the envelope was bulky and not consistent with properly marked legal mail. When the receiving inmate opened the envelope in the presence of jail staff it was discovered that the envelope contained cocaine, marijuana, tobacco, rolling papers and matches.
The illegal contraband was seized as evidence and processed for fingerprints. Crime Scene Detectives located fingerprints on the contraband and identified them as belonging to Jarkezzia Hall. Hall was confronted with this evidence and admitted to introducing the contraband and illegal drugs into the jail.
Hall has been booked into the Leon County Jail and is charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of less than 20 grams of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Introduction of Contraband into a Detention Facility.
