The Gator football team is back in Gainesville and ready to celebrate with their fans as they bring home another national championship.
Nicole Sargeant is one of nearly 70,000 fans who came out to celebrate and said, "I'm looking forward to when they first walk on that field. I know I'll be teary eyed and everything. I mean, it's incredible what they've done."
Thousands of fans geared up in their orange and blue filled the swamp to celebrate as their team wins their second national championship in football in one decade.
Gary Branum is another gator fan.
"Just being able to show appreciation to these fine young men; they put such an effort forth for this university and all of the fans of the university," he said.
Fans weren't the only ones showing appreciation. Coach Urban Meyer, along with several players, gave thanks for the support of the Gator nation as they showed off the ultimate prize.
Former fan favorite and national champion Danny Wuerffell gave fans reason to cheer as he made a surprise visit.
Star quarterback Chris Leak and several other seniors also had their last time to shine as a Gator. Some fans were in awe of the success of the schools athletic program. Robert Carney was born the year the University of Florida won their first football national championship.
"I think it's one of a kind since they had a basketball championship and football championship in the same year."
For now the Gator nation can celebrate, but many are already looking forward to the future of Florida athletics.
