Saint Paul A.M.E. Church hosted the 22nd annual commemoration in honor of the great civil rights leader.
The program included singing, prayer, and speeches from local leaders. It was a packed house for the special service.
"We can't forget the tremendous efforts that it took to get us here today and it has that impact on me. That I thank God that I'm able to go anywhere in the country and pursue a career in any field," said Valdosta resident Theodore Emanuel.
MLK events continue Monday in Valdosta with a program at Mathis City Auditorium, featuring dancing and speeches.
