Soon downtown Thomasville will be transformed into an age from the past. It's time for the Victorian Christmas, and in addition to the carriage rides and carolers of Christmas past, there's something else that helps dress the scene.
Fancy hats and long vintage gowns is what comes to mind when you think of the Victorian era, and event coordinators of Thomasville's Victorian Christmas say these outfits also bring the event to life.
So what is it about these costumes?
"It's the feel when you come to Victorian Christmas that you've actually stepped in a time machine and you're in 1890," said Kim McCray.
Handmade elaborate costumes and accessories for men and women mirror styles from the Victorian age, but they are limited so you may have to get creative with you're own wardrobe.
Outfits are available for rent at the Thomasville's Municipal Building, and for more Victorian costume ideas there are handouts available at Thomasville's Main Street office.
