A city official wants to change the way people who live there vote.
Live Oak City Councilman Don Boyette wants citywide, or at-large voting instead of district-wide.
He says it would be only fair for registered voters to vote for all candidates, not just those running in their districts.
But no other council member is getting behind his idea.
Live Oak City Councilman Don Boyette said, "I'm waiting on some legal opinions from our attorney and as soon as I get those back, if they are in my favor, then we will proceed to gather signatures to put it on the ballot at a call election.
Suwannee County voters chose to switch back from district-wide to at-large voting in last year's election.
The local chapter of the NAACP is fighting that decision claiming countywide voting is unfair.
