The hospital is looking at an expansion plan that will be the most dramatic addition since it was built in 1925.
A new emergency department, intensive care unit and surgery department are all outlined in the plan.
Many residents say the expansion could be beneficial on more than one level.
Julio Mulongo, a student at Thomas University, said, "It should open up more employment opportunities for the community."
Steven Abernathy, a Thomasville resident, added, "Archbold is just a tremendous health care resource for all of Southern Georgia here and I imagine whatever they plan on doing is well thought out."
Archbold completed a multi-million-dollar expansion last January. That construction added a new tower that houses a state of the art heart and vascular center.
