The campaign still needs $700,000, and organizers say the proceeds from the Jimmy Buffet concert will not be included in the campaign total.
While the proceeds for the Buffet concert generated a lot of money, organizers say it doesn't replace the need to finish strong in the final month of the campaign.
"We have already surpassed last year’s goal. We are ahead of that now, but we still have $700,000 to raise in 30 days, and it's going to take everybody in the community to understand what we do and believe in what we do for the community, and we wanted to be involved in that," said Heather Mitchell, United Way Big Bend Resource Development Vice President.
