One local teacher was all smiles after learning she is her county's teacher of the year.
Wakulla County middle school teacher Crissy Sarvis was named top teacher in Wakulla County.
She was greeted with flowers, candy and a $500 check. She now qualifies to be Florida's top teacher, but she first has to compete against 66 other teachers.
"The other teachers that were teachers of the year at their schools, were just amazing. They were my friends as well. I'm just honored. I would have been happy if the other candidates had won. Every teacher in this county is deserving of this.," said Sarvis.
Sarvis is a product of the Wakulla County school system and has taught in Wakulla County for 15 years.
