Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting

A TCC student was found shot to death in his apartment Tuesday morning, but police have yet to figure out what happened.

Tallahassee police were called to the Westwood Parc Apartments on Belle Vue Way early Tuesday morning.

Nineteen-year-old Cody Abbott was found dead in his apartment when his girlfriend arrived to take him to work. Police say there are no signs of a break-in, but they're awaiting more test results before calling it accidental or intentional.

"There's an autopsy tomorrow morning. We'll also do some ballistics testing of the handgun that we found on scene and through some other investigative techniques, we'll try to have a more definitive answer, some insight as to what took place," said J.B. Johnson.

After Wednesday’s autopsy, the medical examiner should be able to pinpoint the approximate time of death, as friends were in contact with abbot as recently as Monday night.
