A recent survey by the American Institute for Economic Research ranked colleges based on their surroundings and city life off campus.
Among the criteria was quality of life, cost of living, academic environment, and professional opportunities in the city.
Although Tallahassee was not ranked in the top 75 college destinations, many at local colleges feel that being in a capital city is plus for students.
"There's a lot of internship opportunities here on campus at the capitol especially by having all those people coming in. We also have a lot of politicians coming in that you can network with and better your opportunity with jobs," says Katie Fletchall, a student at FSU.
Some of the top college destinations are New York City, Boulder Colorado, and Ithaca, New York.
