There has been a crackdown on sex offenders with more than two dozen rounded up in our area.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement concluded a four-month sex offender/predator sweep.
The statewide initiative is an extensive effort to locate individuals who evaded Florida's sexual offender registry, 15 people located right here in the Tallahassee region.
Phil Kiracofe, spokesperson for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, said, "Some are arrested. Some we find have moved to other states and have failed to register. In many cases there'd been some sort of bureaucratic glitch. Maybe they have complied or attempted to comply with the requirements."
The Jessica Lunsford Act requires sexual offenders and predators to reregister in person twice a year.
