You've heard of eating black-eyed peas to ring in the new year, but what about eating mouthfuls to celebrate black history month? That's what several folks did Saturday at the Jacob Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
The community wide celebration is called "Black-Eyed Peas and Ham", a family event featuring a pig roast and performances showcasing African-American history.
“You know we like to eat so we think about what represents an African American meal? Pork and black-eyed peas, that's it!” said Linda Blackshear the organizer.
"The Black Eyed Peas and Ham" celebration included other activities such as story telling and craft demonstrations.
