A Sunday morning shooting on Tallahassee's south side leaves one man in the hospital and police with unanswered questions.
Around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning, Tallahassee police responded to a shooting at the intersection of Okaloosa and Main Streets. Officers say no eyewitnesses have come forward, just a few people who heard the shots that struck 32-year-old Antonio Steele twice while standing next to his car that was parked a few blocks from the Top Flight night club.
Authorities say Steele was standing at the intersection waiting on some of his friends to exit the club, and that's when he was shot several times. Police officials believe the motive may have been robbery.
Residents living near the crime scene say while they are concerned; this type of incident doesn't happen here very often.
"Just isolated, that doesn't happen all of the time, but it's a lot of people who come to the club,” said Doug Whitehead, a local resident.
“It don't happen, a lot of times, it be people from different side of town, it's never the people who live around here in this neighbor,” said Ronnie Wynn.
Officials say the shooter is still on the loose.
Beverly Whitehead says, "It's kind of scary, and ah, but I've been living there since 1980 and we don't have that much here, right in this spot, maybe in some other areas, but not right in this spot."
Officials say Steele was shot in the neck and the bullet severed his spinal cord. He is currently listed in critical condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. If you have any information on the shooting, you're urged to call the Tallahassee Police Department at 891-4200.
