They were there at the request of Attorney General Charlie Crist who wants some answers.
Representatives from five of the seven major oil companies went behind closed doors and had an opportunity to give what Crist called "rational explanations for what might be happening."
Crist said he's tired of Floridians suffering every time they go to the pumps.
Thirty-eight other state attorney generals listened in via conference call to see what the industry reps had to say.
Crist said if there are no rational answers to rising gas prices, then lawsuits from Florida and other states could follow.
