HIV Test and Pregnancy

The bill has passed in the House and is now on to the Senate.

It would require health care providers to test pregnant women for the disease unless she specifically declines.

Doctors say if a woman is found HIV positive during her first trimester, treatments can begin, reducing the baby's chances of contracting the disease.
