Floridians Rally at Capitol for Property Tax Relief

The group Floridians for Property Tax Reform says it's frustrated by how slowly the legislative process is moving, and it's demanding reasonable tax reductions this year.

Maureen France, a Volusia County resident, says her neighborhood is a perfect example of the unfairness of the current tax system. "I’m paying $4,800 dollars a year in taxes. The guy across the street who’s been there 15 years is paying $1,500 and then the guy, the new home that just moved in a few years ago, is paying $5,500. Same house, same neighborhood."

The citizens group is angry about a proposal that would exempt 30 counties from having to provide any property tax relief this year.
