More than on100people showed up Tuesday night to share their views on plans for a new community center in Miccosukee.
Leon County commissioners told residents they won't make a decision about building a new center until after the state's legislative session is over. They want to see what happens with the property tax reform issue first.
Building a new center has stirred up debate among the community over whether spending the money on a new center is a good idea.
"I think we're going to have to come to a consensus of what's best for the community and what will serve the entire community and reunite us again," said longtime resident Charlene Bevis-Reese.
It would cost more than $2 million to build a new center. Leon County only has a little more than $1 million budgeted for it.
