TALLAHASSEE -- Tallahassee's mayor said no to turning land over for a future performing arts center until the group behind it has a plan.
The new center would go in the old Johns Building off Gaines Street. Mayor John Marks says he's not giving the non-profit group heading up the center, the land, until they come up with a plan.
"They do not have a definite plan at this point in time and so we're not inclined to sell the property to the non-profit organization or to any government entity without a plan associated with how the performing arts center will be developed," said Mayor Marks.
The new center would cost more than $100 million. The city bought the site for justunder $3 million.
