Gov. Crist met with Senior Airman David Johnson during National Guard Day at the Capitol.
Johnson’s grandmother was three years old in 1923 when the mostly black town of Rosewood was burned and many of its citizens murdered by a white mob.
Gov. Crist was among the legislators several years ago who supported a $2 million settlement for Rosewood survivors.
He left a message for Johnson’s father to tell him about their conversation.
