Gov. Crist is meeting with members of the Guard and touring military displays at the Capitol Tuesday.
The Florida Guard says it needs$90 million worth of new equipment to replace worn out or outdated supplies.
Gov. Crist is promising to talk with federal officials in support of the Guard’s request.
"What a great comfort it is to me as the governor, on behalf of our people, to know that when things really get difficult after a hurricane or after tornadoes, that we can all rely on your courage and your service and your compassionate hearts," the governor told the Guard members.
Florida National Guard Day is an annual event intended to educate Floridians about the military’s various missions here and abroad.
