TCC Celebrates Women's History Month

Tallahassee Community College knows a woman's worth, and on Wednesday, March 21 it recognized several women who've made countless contributions to our area.

Dozens gathered at TCC for its annual Women's History Month celebration. The theme for this year is "Generations of Women Moving History Forward."

From pastors to public defenders and doctors to disability advocates, in all 15 women were recognized for their efforts to move the community forward.

The 2007 honorees were Helena Barrington, Elsie Crowell, Nancy Daniels, Lori Fahey, Mary Goodman, Freddie Groomes-McLendon, Cynthia Kimble, Jamileh Mikati, Mary Miaisha Mitchell, Pamela Wainwright, Alexis Fleck, Shawna O'Hehir, Nakeisha Smith, Julia Turner and Andrea White.

Our very own Shonda Knight served as the keynote speaker.
