Sudden Oak Death Discovered in Florida Nurseries

Terence McElroy with the Florida Department of Agriculture says three Jacksonville nurseries and a Tallahassee nursery have tested positive for the Sudden Oak Death disease, which can hide in close to 40 different host plants, including azaleas and camellias.

"We don't think that there is a lot of it out there in the market place. We don't think many home owners or gardeners have it, we think we caught it very early, and hopefully before it got out of the nursery at all,” McElroy explains.

If you have a plant that was imported from a California nursery, and you think it may be affected, you're urged to call the Department of Agriculture.
