The Haven Women's Shelter in Valdosta needs basic necessities to be donated in order to keep housing 22 women and children each night.
The Haven is in need of personal products ranging from toothbrushes and diapers to furniture and bedding.
Shelters officials say even the smallest donations make a big difference.
"We are very reliant on the community with donations," said Amanda Wilson, an outreach advocate for The Haven. "Most our clients that come in have one bag and what they can fit in that and it may be a shirt, a pair of jeans and that's all."
Wilson says the women and children are also in need of clothing, diapers, disposable razors and feminine products.
Anyone interested in donating material can schedule to have their items picked up by calling 229-244-4477.

I have donated items to a similar shelter and have no problem with it. I was a physically abused husband for a period and left. My question is this- if these women and children are battered and have to seek shelter, why don't they make the person committing the act of battery on them donate money, and if they are awaiting a court date and do have some form of work, why don't they garnish their wages?
