Officials say a sailor from Valdosta was one of three members of a U.S. military explosive disposal unit killed in combat in Iraq.
The Pentagon says 26-year-old Navy Petty Officer First Class Joseph A. McSween died Friday near Kirkuk in northern Iraq.
The Defense Department says McSween was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit Eleven, based at Whidbey Island, Washington.
Also killed were 36-year-old Chief Petty Officer Gregory J. Billiter of Villa Hills, Kentucky, and 24-year-old Petty Officer Second Class Curtis R. Hall of Burley, Idaho.
Details of how the three were killed were not disclosed by military officials.
