Firefighters are working to contain a nine mile wildfire raging in Waycross, Georgia tonight.
One hundred residents were evacuated. No one was injured.
The Ware County fire chief says the fire started after a tree blew onto a live power line near Highway 84 last Monday night.
The Valdosta Fire Department has been called in to help contain the Waycross fire.
"Ninety five percent of people involved in fire service volunteer or paid they enjoy helping somebody and they got this wish to be a hero. Little boy syndrome going on,” said LT Ricky Weeks.
That Waycross fire has burned 10,000 acres of forest and threatens many homes in the area.
Tonight the blaze is about 25 percent contained.
