All through town hotels are booked and restaurants are filled to capacity. Friday night, members of the first half of Florida State's graduating class made their way to the Civic Center.
Many grads say walking the stage is the easy part. The hard part was finding a hotel room for their friends and family.
Rory Ledbetter, whose parents came for graduation, says, "It was tough, they came down last night, so they had an easy time finding a place, but tonight they're going to have to go 60 miles to Georgia to get a place."
Area hotel managers say juggling between the heavy volume of visitors and last minute cancellations. This time of the year is always overwhelming.
Judy Kalas, manager at Econo Lodge, says, "You just got to go with the flow, you just go with the flow and do what you need to and take a deep breath and breathe.”
Local restaurants are also feeling the pressure. The manager of an area Golden Corral says his restaurant seats 406 people, and he says between Friday night and Saturday he expects full capacity at least four or five times.
"We plan on seeing the restaurant fill up several times. We've got a great staff on and they've all stepped up and batted away. We plan on a very busy and successful weekend," says Golden Corral manager Kyle Marks.
Some graduates say getting their degree was hard work and a few long lines won't put a damper on their big day.
"I waited a long time to get where I am today, so we can wait in the restaurant line for a little while," says FSU graduate, Sherry Sineath.
And of course WCTV congratulates all of our area graduates. The big weekend continued Saturday morning with FSU's second graduation ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Leon County Civic Center.
Florida A&M's graduation kicked off at 8 a.m. at Bragg Memorial Stadium and Tallahassee Community College's commencement exercises began at 6:00 p.m. at the Leon County Civic Center.
