Gadsden County Kids were told to do three things after school this week and that was stop, drop and read.

The porch light signaled that there was reading going inside! And actually, it was more like a reading party!

The whole school board stopped by kids houses in Chattahoochee Wednesday night and if they were reading, they received a prize.

And whether or not they received anything or not, kids and parents both agreed that reading is pretty cool.

So they can be more involved and get away from all the negative stuff that's going on on TV, so they can educate themselves at home as well as at school and in the community. And when they read, they can tell other people and get them to read," Deshawndra Farling, a mom of a first grader.

The school will continue to be doing Stop Drop and Read until every kid in the community starts to read.

goodness gracious isn't this what PARENTS should be teaching their kids anyway?? sad, sad, sad that we need "others" telling us how to raise/teach our kids...
