The heat is on for many south Georgia residents thanks to a local program.
The Southwest Georgia Community Action Council in Thomasville says they offer assistance to folks who need help covering their heating costs, and officials say their phones haven't stopped ringing.
They say more people have been calling this year than last year, and thanks to extra funds from the state, they can keep the program running longer.
Officials say every year the program helps at least 1,000 families.
Folks can call the office and talk to a representative to get started with the process. That number is 229-228-1162.
