Every year thousands of folks pack Tom Brown Park to celebrate our country's freedom with flags and fireworks. Thursday, this year's lineup of activities and entertainment was announced at a sponsors luncheon.
The skies above Tom Brown Park will be glaring red, white and blue as fireworks set off the celebration of our country's 228 years of independence, and the headlining act for this year’s Celebrate America festivities is country music star Mark Wills.
Anna Sutherland says, "Bringing in someone like Mark Wills for a free concert will feel is a huge benefit to the community and just away to get everyone together to celebrate out freedom."
The entertainment for the evening doesn't stop there. Several groups of local artists will also be performing on a second stage.
Billy Holder adds, "Zydecco Zoo Shoes is so well-known around here and then world renowned Bill Warden out of Monticello. We are really excited about him coming out and playing"
Organizers say there will also be local vendors and activities for children and they guarantee yet another successful event.
Holder adds, "City of Tallahassee, Sheriff's Department is all part of this program. The whole community is involved that gets it going."
And it's been going for 19 years strong as folks come together in honor of our freedom. It is estimated more than 32,000 people will be in attendance. The fireworks show begins at sundown and the headlining concert with Mark Wills begins at 8:45.
