Press Release:

Pensacola, Florida - United States Attorney Thomas F. Kirwin, Northern District of Florida, announced today that Claude Jude, 25, a marine previously stationed at Pensacola Naval Air Station, was indicted on child pornography receipt and possession charges. The United States
Marine Corps recently discharged Jude based on this investigation.

The two-count indictment alleges that between March 1, 2009, and April 30, 2009, Jude received and possessed child pornography that had traveled in interstate commerce. Jude made his initial appearance in federal court today and was arraigned before Senior United States District Judge Roger Vinson. A trial date has been set for April 26, 2010.
If convicted, Jude faces a sentence of 5 to 20 years’ imprisonment for receipt of child pornography, and a maximum of sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment for possession.

An indictment is merely a charging document, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case was investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David L. Goldberg.
