A company that donates food to those in need has a new storage facility but they need funding to open it.
Farm Share Incorporated will take over an old warehouse in Quincy, but they are seeking 600,000 from state lawmakers for operation of the facility and collection of the food.
The program can store produce in coolers so that it doesn't need to be transported in every week from South Florida.
"If we have it close by, and we can collect tomatoes, and squash, zucchini, and vegetables that grow here in North Florida in the summer months and we can feed people in the area who meet the federal guidelines for poverty," says Farm Share Inc. Chair Patricia Robbins.
Last year, Farm Share was able to donate 22 million dollars worth of food to those in need.
