Officials say a boat is to blame for the death of a manatee spotted floating in the Wakulla River last month.
The gentle giant was pulled to shore about 200 feet from the shell island fish camp. A preliminary investigation said the injuries were most likely sustained from a boat.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirms that was in fact the cause of death. This is the first known manatee hit and killed by a boat in the Wakulla River.
