Experts from all over the country were in Tallahassee Friday to talk about the African American healthy marriage initiative.
The conference paved the way for people to talk about some troubling facts and figures, but more importantly, solutions for getting back what has been lost over the years.
Local pastor Calvin McFadden and his wife Jamina are giving tips on how to have a healthy marriage. Unfortunately, an even bigger problem is the lack of marriage in the African American community.
The goal of the conference was to educate Tallahasseans about these startling facts, but also give inspiration. Conference coordinators say there are several reasons for the decline in marriage but say a major reason has been the focus on climbing the socioeconomic ladder.
This conference was sponsored by several local and statewide agencies. Representatives say if you fix the home, you can fix the community.
