Poverty Census

The U.S. Census has released figures showing almost $2.2 million Florida residents are living in poverty.

For a family of four, poverty means an annual income of less than $19,000. The state's poverty rate climbed to 13.1 percent last year.

According to the latest statistics, the poorest county is Escambia, where one out of every five people lives in poverty.
