Thomas County, GA - A judge has sentenced 19-year-old Xavier Jones to life plus 25 years for the 2010 shooting death of 15-year-old, Christopher Crumbry, Jr.

It took a Thomas County jury a little more than an hour Thursday to find Jones guilty of felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

At a sentencing hearing Monday morning, Crumbry's uncle, Tyrone White, addressed Jones and the courtroom. He said he hopes Jones finds Jesus Christ, so that he can be forgiven. He also asked the judge to give Jones the maximum sentence.

Crumbry's mother and aunt wrote victim impact statements. They both say the horrible tragedy has caused their family emotional and physical pain. They described Crumbry as a loving child, who was crazy about his grandparents, was a great big brother and loved kids.

Crumbry was found shot in the head in a grassy area along Fletcher Street in Thomasville back in July 2010.

Jones's two aunts also addressed the courtroom. They told the Crumbry family that they were so sorry for their loss and that, "Xavier wasn't raised like that." They asked the judge for mercy.

Before learning his fate, Jones apologized to the Crumbry family and told the judge he, "never thought I'd be in some trouble like this."

The murder of a teenage boy has prompted neighbors in the area to spearhead an anti-violence campaign.

One week ago, 15-year-old Chris Crumbry was shot to death in a grassy area on Fletcher Street. Now, "stop the violence" signs have been erected in the area where his body was found.

Neighbors hope their message of peace will help lower crime rates throughout the community... and even save lives.

"Our stop the violence theme is "each one reach one" and as individuals, if we could reach one troubled teen, a youth we'll come together as a group effort. The group effort will turn as a city wide effort to stop the violence," Gwen Mack, Stop the Violence organizer, said.

The community will get together Thursday night at 8:30 to hold a candlelight vigil for Crumbry.

Bond has been denied for the three men accused of murdering Crumbry, they remain behind bars at Thomas County jail.

A teenager is shot and killed in Thomasville and his killer is still on the loose.

15-year-old Chris Crumbry was found shot to death in a South Georgia neighborhood late last night. His family tells us Chris didn't have any enemies and they can't believe their son is gone.

"Just real sad. Disappointed. I just can't believe something like this could happen in Thomasville let alone to me and my family. My son."

Christopher Crumbry is kneeling down next to a sign erected in honor of his son...15-year-old Chris Crumbry who was murdered late Tuesday night.

Crumbry's body was found in the grassy area on Fletcher Street and Dowdell Street.

"It felt unreal to me. It felt like this couldn't be happening. Just a bad dream and I was hoping to wake up."

"He was a great guy, a good young man. He went about minding his own business and somebody just came and took his life," Travis Baker, Crumbry's Uncle, said.

Thomasville Police and Georgia Bureau of Investigation spent most of Wednesday trying to piece together the murder... Meanwhile family members mourned a young life lost too

"Everybody is taking it hard. His dad. His uncles. Because he was loved greatly by his family and he's going to be missed greatly," Baker said.

Family members say they're trying to stay strong for each other.. They say Chris left them with a hope and a legacy to stop the violence.

"I feel that everyone could learn something from this situation and know that violence gets you nowhere. It's senseless. It makes no sense. It's just stupid for a child to lose his life behind nothing."

His family members are reaching out to the public to help find the killer, and bring justice to their son's death. Right now authorities are releasing limited information about the murder. As soon as we find out more, it'll be online at WCTV.TV

I think if them 3 boys were brave enough 2 take somebody else life that was so innocent they all should get the chair. That should be a new law if you kill someone your life is taken. I dont wish bad luck on neither one of them but they know it was wrong & look what they got out of it NOTHING! In jail 4 the rest of they live over something that shouldve never happen. They think they so bad na its eating them up in the inside. I know they have flash backs almost every night about the situation. I said what i had 2 say!!! I also hope Chris parents are doing fine...

them bots should have a jail ceil full of chris pictures and the pictures of the crime scene and then next year on the date nd time that Chris lost his life they should be hung but in the day time before the hanging they should tell the mother and father of Chris why they did the stupid thing they did and if i was a police officer i would order some people in jail to beat them into a coma and when they get out of the coma they should just die and the family of chris should go spray paint the boys mothers house car work and everywhere and put "R.I.P CHRIS WE MISS YOU"

The punishment should fit the crime. This young man lost his life, regardless of the circumstances. Exodus 21:23 "But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life; Leviticus 24:20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; just as he has injured a man, so it shall be inflicted on him.; Deuteronomy 19:13 "You shall not pity him, but you shall purge the blood of the innocent from Israel, that it may go well with you.
