Valdosta, GA -

A week long getaway at a beachhouse on St. George Island, this Georgia bulldogs football signed by Coach Mark Richt and much more was up for auction Saturday night at Mathis Auditorium.

Michelle Girtman is the Executive Director of The Haven. She said "we're hoping to surpass the amount that we did last year. Which was a little over twenty thousand dollars. It's a good show, it's a good time and it all benefits victims of domestic violence"

The sixteenth annual fundraiser for the Haven drew hundred of people that bid on more than three hundred different items. All of the money goes directly to the organization which helps shelter women who've suffered physical and sexual abuse.

Girtman went on to say "it's good for Valdosta and surrounding counties. We're certified in nine counties. We house twenty two women and children each day in our shelter. We see over seven thousand victims a year."

Lauren Sandbach is a Sexual Assault Advocate. She said "if we see you know how ever many clients a month than there's that many more that are not calling and not reporting. And so basically the biggest thing that we try and tell our clients is if an assault has happened than it's not their fault and try and help them through the recovery process."
