Lowndes Co., GA - Pastor Curtis Sermons looked out over the ruins of his Church. Monday was the two month anniversary since the "Ousley Temple Church of God in Christ" burned down early Christmas Morning. Ever since, the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department has been investigating it as an arson.

"It is almost inconceivable that anyone, no matter how bad of shape they are in or their need for funds, would break into a church and then by intent or whatever burn the church down," said Pastor Curtis Sermons.

23 year old Martavius Davis from Quitman and 27 year old Relandall Samuel from Thomasville are in Lowndes County Jail, charged with stealing from the church, then burning it down. Although it's unclear whether the fire was set intentionally or not.

Three other people have also been arrested in connection to stolen property popping up at local pawn shops.

"I'm glad that they caught the persons who did it. The other part is it's saddening to know a young person would do such a thing," Pastor Sermons said.

Services for Ousley Church are being held every Sunday at Redland Baptist Church just down the road. They plan to rebuild, possibly in the same spot, but right now they are still raising funds, since the church did not have insurance.

To donate there is a fund set up through "Bank of the Ozarks" of West Hill Avenue in Valdosta.
