Press Release: Florida State University

On Monday, March 25, 2013, at approximately 3:00 a.m., a student reported he was the victim of an attempted robbery. The student had been exercising and upon completion, was crossing through the parking lot on the north side of the FSU Circus tent. The student stopped for a moment to stretch and while stopped he heard a subject approaching from behind. As he turned around an unidentified male attempted to reach in his pocket for his IPod. The student stepped back from the male at that moment the alleged suspect said, "Give me that." The student told the male, "no." The alleged male suspect reached into his own pocket and implied he had a weapon and demanded the IPod again. After a brief struggle, the suspect fled the area, last seen running north towards the Leach Center. FSUPD was notified approximately 10-15 minutes after the alleged incident occurred. FSUPD Officers responded to the area of the reported incident and conducted a search for evidence, witnesses and possible suspects but was unsuccessful. The male student was not injured during this incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6"1' in height, well groomed goatee, and muscular build. The male appeared to be in his early 20's. The male was wearing a plain grey pullover sweat shirt and plain black gym pants.
