August 1, 2014
At a time when Florida is raising the bar on higher education and reaching for a new level of academic quality, the Board of Governors is seeking applicants for 22 Board of Trustee positions throughout the State University System. This unique public service opportunity will help shape the future of the second largest university system in the country.
The universities' 13-member boards of trustees are responsible for cost-effective policy and implementing and maintaining high quality education programs. Board of trustee members will also work to adhere to state policy, budgeting and education standards.
There is one vacant position at each Florida A&M University and the University of Florida and two vacant positions at the following public state universities: Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida International University, Florida Polytechnic University, Florida State University, New College of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of North Florida, University of South Florida and University of West Florida.
“Our System is working better together than ever before, and our trustees are a huge part of that effort,” said Mori Hosseini, chair of the Board of Governors. “That’s why the State University System is seeking applicants who are enthusiastic, diverse and committed to continuously raising the bar for our universities and our students.”
Those interested in this opportunity must complete an application with the Board of Governors by September 30, 2014. Applicants do not need to live in Florida to serve. The term of service runs through Jan. 6, 2020 for 11 institutions. At Florida Polytechnic University, the term ends July 15, 2019.
