Concerned residents have flooded Tallahassee city meetings, regarding a proposed noise ordinance.

Tuesday, local business owners had their turn at a forum addressing the issue.

"We really focused here tonight on the business community," said Reggie Bouthillier, with the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.

Reps from the city, chamber of commerce and local businesses sat on a panel, fielding questions.

Scott Carswell owns Tallahassee club The Moon. He was hired to conduct the sound tests on the Cascades Park amphitheater, one of the areas raising big noise concerns for residents.

"We really whacked it down so to speak. We brought it down, we kept the noise at the mixed level for the audience, but we reduced drastically the amount of noise leaving the park," Carswell said.

He said the sound tests helped the situation and other areas could be affected by the ordinance more than Cascades Park.

"I don't think the noise ordinance is going to be an issue for Cascades Park, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be an issue for a lot of my friends that have been in this business for a long time in Tallahassee," he said.

"We can take a lot of the feedback we've received and work with the city to improve the ordinance going forward," Bouthillier said.

The city is still taking feedback from Tallahassee residents as they continue to draft the noise ordinance. It goes up for consideration early next year.
