Tallahassee, FL - Capital Area Red Cross hosted a Fire & Public Safety Day at Winthrop Park today. Capital Area Red Cross said every 31 hours they help folks affected by home fires and today was all about bringing awareness of fire prevention. They teamed up with the Tallahassee Fire Department, Florida Highway Patrol and the Florida Department of Agriculture as well as other organizations in Tallahassee. Children were able to learn about the Fire/Weather House and how to safely exit a home that is on fire. "As simple as these things are I think it's really important that we ingrain them peoples brain so that we can just be sure to be safe and stay healthy," said Karla Juaren, Capital Area Red Cross.
