If you drove along North Monroe Street Tuesday night, just north of I-10 you may have seen an alligator. A small gator was docked right in the middle of the road.
"I'd try and swerve for sure, I don't think i would try to run it over," said Matthew Smith, local resident.
Leon County Sheriff's Deputies said someone ran over the alligator and badly injured it. Just before 11 p.m., a good Samaritan stopped and decided to help, according to LCSO.
The person who pulled over to help the alligator called animal control, but got into an accident of their own.
LCSO said another car traveling down Monroe street rammed their car, but no one was seriously injured.
Deputies and the driver then waited for animal control to come get the gator.
"Yeah I think I would definitely call someone if I saw an alligator," Smith said.
LCSO said the gator was near dead when it was picked up.
