Tallahassee, FL, January 24, 6:02pm - If you are looking to support local businesses and have fun at the same time, there's a way to do just that.
The greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce is launching a "chamber mob" each month and the first one is taking place tonight.
Tonight, the first "chamber mob" was in Northeast Tallahassee at the Garnet and Gold store in Village Square.
If you are wondering what a "chamber mob" is, it's similar to a cash mob and the goal is to present an opportunity to drive customers into local businesses and spend a minimum of 15 dollars each.
The chamber will host these mobs on the 4th Thursday of each month, and will move around to different parts of the city.
They will promote the date and time that the mob will happen in advance, however, they won't announce the location until the day prior in that week's e-news.
The business chosen to be mobbed must be in the retail, restaurant or service industry and also must be a chamber member. Times of the mobs may also vary based on the businesses participating.
Those businesses will also have the opportunity to offer their own promotions or sales during the chamber mobs.
The chamber is hoping these mobs will help bring in new customers and in doing that, the chamber is raffling off tickets tonight to the FSU vs. Maryland basketball game to shoppers as well.
