Tallahassee FL- Common Core education standards were discussed today during the foundation for Florida's Future information meeting.

Common Core State Standards is an education movement that is sweeping the nation. It's a program that works to raise education standards, and universalize them in every state throughout the US.

Today a panel of common core experts worked to answer questions about this education plan. Executive Director for Foundation for Florida's Future said, "These are academic standards that are going to better prepare their child to succeed in high school and to go on to college. And I think it's really important that for the first time Florida is apart of something bigger than our state."

The panelists emphasized Common Core is not a Federally mandated curriculum but instead is a national movement to standardize education requirements for K-through-12 students. Here in Florida Common Core standards are already in place, and next year students will be tested under those standards.
