A Georgia Senate candidate traveled to Valdosta Thursday morning to meet with citizens and answer questions.

Congressman Jack Kingston shook hands, talked about his past and discussed issues he is concerned with, including the state of the agricultural community in southern Georgia, helping small businesses and Moody Air Force Base.

Valdosta elected officials were also on-hand to meet with the congressman. Kingston says he disagrees with the Air Force's plan to get rid of the A-10.

"I've been pushing back on the Air Force's plan to discontinue the A-10 and we argue the case that there is nothing that can replace A-10 for low altitude, close range, and really the biggest advocates for the A-10 are the Marines and the Army," said Kingston.

Early voting begins April 28, with the primary on May 20.
