Tallahassee, FL -- June 4, 2012 --

On Wednesday, May 30, 2012, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office received information that a correctional officer may have been involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former Sheriff’s Work Camp inmate.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit established contact with the former inmate, a 29 year old female, who began serving a 60 day sentence in the Sheriff’s Work Camp in November of 2011. An
interview with the inmate confirmed a sexual relationship had taken place with a correctional officer who supervised inmates serving sentences in the work camp.

On Monday, June 04, 2012, detectives interviewed William J. Fletcher and learned that he had developed a consensual sexual relationship with the inmate. Fletcher was arrested and taken to the
Leon County Jail. Fletcher, a 16 year employee at the Leon County Jail, was also terminated.
