Gadsden County detention deputy Deric Mordica hugged friends and family inside a Quincy courtroom Friday

Mordica was found not guilty after being accused by a female inmate for having sex with her in exchange for bond money.

According to testimony, the inmate was booked March 2nd, 2012. A witness testified the alleged victim said "someone's going down for this."

Eight days later, the inmate claims Mordica had unprotected sex with her, but never paid her bond.

Mordica denied having any physical relationship with the inmate. Mordica's lawyer says the inmate was just looking for a way out of jail.

"It was a fairly straightforward case, the state didn't really have any physical evidence to support the alleged victim's statement," said Mordica's attorney Richard Smith.

We reached out to the Gadsden County sheriff's office about Mordica's status with the force. They would not comment on his current status with the sheriff's office or what his status will be in the future.
