According to Florida Highway Patrol
At approximately 3:50 p.m. this afternoon, Clifford Carpenter, 24, of Alabama/Florida, was exiting the Lube-Experts parking lot on the east side of U.S. 319 in a 2000 Jeep SUV with a minor child (4 years) as Joyce Millender (driver) and Gordon Millender (passenger) were traveling southbound on U.S. 319 in a 2001 Ford SUV.
According to witnesses, the Carpenter was making a right turn to go northbound on U.S. 319, when he steered in to the Millender's direct path of travel.

After impact, the Jeep was redirected to the southeast and came to final rest facing west in the southbound travel lane.
The Ford was redirected to the northwest and came to final rest facing south on the west shoulder of U.S. 319.
The minor child of the Jeep and passenger (Gordon Millender) of the Ford reportedly sustained serious injuries, while both drivers are reported as having sustained critical injuries.
Press Release: Wakulla County Fire Rescue
Crawfordville, Florida -- Wakulla County Fire Rescue and Wakulla EMS responded to a very serious accident involving two SUVs that entrapped both drivers and injured four people. The accident occurred on Crawfordville Highway just north of Preston Circle at 3:55 p.m.
Two SUVs collided in what appeared to be a near head on crash. A south bound Ford Expedition occupied by two adults was struck by a Jeep Cherokee occupied by a male driver and his young child. The child was properly fastened in a child safety seat in the back seat which apparently prevented serious injury to him.
WCFR and WCEMS had to use hydraulic rescue tools to free both drivers of the vehicles. Both drivers were freed within twenty minutes. Two engines, one squad and two EMS units were used at the scene.
Due to the severity of the injuries FHP kept the south bound lane of Crawfordville closed for over two hours. Traffic was re-routed on East Ivan Rd. Northbound traffic was able to continue past the accident. There was light rain at the time of the accident.
All four occupants of the two vehicles were transported by WCEMS to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
